Pastfabric II is the successor to Puremagnetik's popular micro-splicing plugin. This granular reverb processor works in real time, shaping any sound you feed into its buffer. Influenced by microsound techniques and experimental tape splicing, Pastfabric II blends elements from both the analog and digital worlds, adding everything from nostalgic glitches to shimmering ambient textures to your audio.


Micro-splicing
Pastfabric records incoming audio in real-time to a 10s buffer, then processes it with a granulator and an algorithmic reverb. The Past control sets the scanning length. It then pulls out granulated splices from the memory. Motion controls the randomization of the splicer as it pulls new content out. With Duration and Length, each splice can undergo chopping, glitching or sustaining into blurred ambience.
Effects and Fabric
Splices can be routed through an expressive selection of effects. Haze controls an algorithmic reverb that diffuses the spatial source of the slices. Fabric adds an improved analog "aging" effects to the splices, making them wow, flutter and saturate.
Between micro-memory splicing and effects, Pastfabric II can turn a very simple sound input into complex repeating patterns, modulating, beautiful ambiences and much more.

Rust is a hybrid metallic resonator and vintage analog aging effect. It combines a series of second-order resonant filters, a "ball-within-the-box" physically modelled space, and Puremagnetik's analog age effect from Driftmaker and Verv. Essentially, there are two signal chains in series: Iron Oxide (Rust) and Chromium (Analog Tape).


Rust can make anything sound old and squeaky, time-worn with wow and flutter, or completely lost in time (hint: turn all the controls up!). A few presets are included to get you started but Rust should really be customized to the audio you feed it by adjusting the METAL control.

Shadow is a polyphonic pitch and delay wizard capable of conjuring up everything from lush choruses to slapback delay lines and more. Used minimally, it can create wide chorus effects but it can also glitch, mangle and completely obscure your sounds into crazy cosmic dimensions.


The first part of Shadow is a pitch shifter that can go from a 4th below to a 3rd above your input signal. It can also modulate to any value in between for unique microtonal explorations. With SHADOW 2 control you can create rumbly sub bass frequencies, octave splitters and modulating LFOs for the pitch (see more below).

After the pitch shift, there is an adjustable lag time between the dry and wet signals. At the lowest settings, FOLLOW can be a slap-back delay or chorus effect. Turning it up adds some interesting repeat effects between the dry and pitch shifted signals. CAST does a few secret things that include some extra LFOs and signal swapping. FOLLOW combined with CAST is a powerful combo, resulting in radical modulations in the delay and stereo field.

Shrike is an advanced shimmer designer. It processes an octave-shifted reverb through a matrix of 4 LFOs to create pulsating, fluctuating space effects. Between the different LFO settings (rate and waveform) you can generate cross-modulation from the controls, getting pulses and swell patterns that never repeat.


For example, it is interesting to set different rates per control for overlapping, modulating spaces. Or turn the LFO rates toward the fastest speed for amplitude modulation artifacts. A slapback delay adds to the sound design possibilities as you can adjust it according to your spatial feedback needs.
