Learn to transform beginner level mixes into release ready professional level mixes

What you'll learn
Be able to take a track from a beginner level to a 'ready to release' professional level
Advance your Cubase understanding and knowledge
Advance your music production skills and abilities
Advance your song arrangement skills
Advance your mixing and mastering skills
Requirements
You will need a version of Cubase Elements, Artist, or Pro.
This tutorial is made in Cubase 12, but can be followed along in Cubase 9.5 and above
You should already have a basic understanding of Cubase ('advanced beginner' or above)
Description
Follow along step by step in Cubase, and transform a beginner level mix into a professional level mix, from start to finish. Along the way you will learn all the techniques and skills you need to be able to transform your own tracks to be release ready.Watch the course overview for more details, and to listen to the MASSIVE difference between the starting mix and what you will end up with.Everything you need (Cubase projects, MIDI, presets, and audio) is provided in the workfiles, so please download them when you start the course.PLEASE DOWNLOAD*THE*WORKFILES ATTACHED*TO*LESSON*03 (RESOURSES)This is an in depth course that will take you step by step through the process of transforming a beginner level track. As you progress through the course you will learn everything from how to build on existing ideas, and create new elements for the mix, improve the song structure, how to develop those ideas, how to make your music more emotive (you don't need to play an instrument or have any prior music theory knowledge), all the way through to arranging, mixing and mastering. Here are more details on what you will get out of the course.Module 1 - Creating More EmotionAfter a quick intro to make sure everyone is on the same page, you'll jump right into changing the piano, using an incredible free instrument and programming a more emotive performance. We'll expand the arrangement to make a proper radio edit, discussing the theory of how to keep listeners engaged with your music, by using various techniques, like teasing the chorus and creating tension & release for maximum impact. You'll also be using more advanced, and effective filtering automation to help create contrast between the sections of the track.Module 2 - Additional ElementsBuilding on our basic arrangement, you'll learn to layer some of the existing elements with other synth or organic instruments to subtly enhance them, making them fuller and more lush. You'll also add additional music parts based on the original chord progression, to add variation and excitement to the mix. We'll then add some completely new elements to help the progression of the song and build up the energy.Furthermore, we'll be revisiting the original vocal recording project to find extra vocals to use in the track.Module 3 - A Better ChorusThe chorus is the linchpin of the entire track. If your chorus is weak, the track will be weak. You'll learn to enhance the chorus section in various ways; by adding new vocals, and using automated formant shifting to create an impactful and energetic hook line. You'll also use doubled vocal takes, and stereo widening/unison to make the chorus vocals stand out. Then you'll learn to add another layer to the synth to help thicken it up and make the chorus fuller. By the time we're done, the chorus will have a stark, but fitting contrast from the rest of the track. We'll also make changes to the second chorus to keep the track interesting.Module 4 - Mixing & TighteningBefore we get into mixing, you'll learn the most fundamental mixing skills, and why they are so important to keep in mind as you work; a 'mixing map' that will help you in all your projects. We'll also have a deep dive into the ESSENTIAL art of 'how' to use reference tracks to get pro results in your own mixes. We'll then get into tightening the entire mix, learning what can, and should be tightened, to make the mix cleaner and more open.Module 5 - Drums & Low End MixingThe kick and the bassline are the foundation of any good electronic track, so it is imperative that you get this right. If you have a weak foundation, the rest of the elements will be unstable. You'll learn to create a big amount of space in your mix by shortening the kick drum and applying processing to really make it 'thump'. The kick also has a grounding effect on the other elements of the track, which is fundamentally important to the energy of the track. We'll then work on the bassline, tightening and reducing unwanted reverb to give a tighter sound, and layering with a dedicated sub bass + processing, to make it as fat as possible.Module 6 - Leads & Vocal MixingThe leads and piano are a focal point of the track, and play an important role in providing the texture and energy of the mids and high frequencies. However, they share some of the frequencies with the vocal, so you'll learn how to make the leads and piano fatter, but also maintain a big sounding vocal. You'll learn to process the leads with more advanced multiband compression to get that ultra modern pro sound (single band is shown for Elements users) + other processing. The vocals will be treated with more advanced EQ and compression settings, to help match it to the reference track and give it more dynamic impact. You'll also learn how to use reverb correctly on ALL the elements of your track, which done correctly will enable you to get that big vocal sound.

Together we'll wander deeper down the rabbit hole of self-discovery with methods like self-check meditation and Ikigai, a Japanese model to determine and live your purpose. We will discover ourself through peeling back layers, and use Ikigai to bring our abstract purpose into a concrete, actionable, communicable final form. This CourseLeave with a recallable feeling of your Life's Purpose to guide you, not just a phrase. All Lessons Downloadable Contains Theory, Reflection, and PracticeRESOURCE*Ikigai Worksheet to systematically plan the nitty-grittyTeacher access for all questions / guidance through Udemy

Get started or get back on track!

What you'll learn
Understand the PIC formula for social science dissertations, be able to describe and explain each element.
Implement the PIC formula to create a shortlist of people, issues or interests and contexts for your own dissertation.
Evaluate the options, select your three elements and formulate your own dissertation title question.
Apply the PIC formula in developing a literature review strategy structured around a series of key questions.
Requirements
Social science students who are planning a dissertation, or started a dissertation and got stuck, or are thinking about changing dissertation topic.
Description
"I*don't know what to do my dissertation on!""Is it too late to change my dissertation topic?" "I hate my dissertation!" If any of the above sound familiar, you are not alone! Dissertations aren't supposed to be easy, but they certainly shouldn't be impossible either. The key to ensuring that you can not only complete your dissertation, but actually enjoy the process, lies in identifying the right dissertation topic or title question. This course ensures that you start off on the right path by identifying the three essential elements in any social sciences dissertation topic title: people, issue or interest, and context or "PIC" as I*call it! Far too often, students are missing one or more of these elements, and that sets them up to get stuck further down the line, wanting to change topic, getting lost, handing in something they're not proud of, or even failing to submit their thesis at all. In my 20 years supporting social science dissertation students at UK*universities, I*have developed the PIC formula and taught it to all of the students I*have supervised. My students have graduated with First Class honours at undergrad level, Distinctions at Masters taught postgrad level, and have developed the most impactful PhDs by learning the PIC formula and using it to shape their dissertations. PIC*is not only essential in developing a title question. It will help you structure your literature review too. It forms the backbone of your dissertation and ensures that you don't lose motivation. It sets you up to win and it's the gift that keeps on giving, throughout your dissertation process. This course will get you to a focused title question that reflects your passions and interests, and on track to produce a thesis you can be proud of, so let's get started!

Description
This is the third course in the DIY Lab Equipment with Arduino series. After we learnt the basics in the first course, now it is the time to learn about the low-cost off-shelf pumps and their accessories. For this course, it is not required to take the second course about Temperature Control but it is recommended since it has a lot of general useful resources like using SD card and display. Here we will APPLY this knowledge to control the liquid handling in our experiment setup or project. By controlling the pumps, it is easy to automate the experiment activities like taking samples, circulating liquid, mixing different liquids at specific ratio and specific time and many more. After learning the basics of pumps and how electrically simple they are, we move to learn how to program them using Arduino/ESP32. We learn simple control as ON/OFF in addition to flow rate control. We take a deep understanding of stepper motor peristaltic and syringe pumps and how to calibrate them and use Bluetooth to control the flow rate. Like other course, we use off-shelf components that are readily available at low cost.During this course, we practice how to utilize available codes from the internet or library examples and fit them in our project with minimal coding experience. If you have no knowledge about coding and Arduino, it is highly advised to take the first course (DIY Lab Equipment with Arduino-Part 1-The Basics).
