HQPlayer is a high quality audio player for Windows, Linux and macOS. HQPlayer also features several selectable high quality upsampling and downsampling algorithms as well as selectable dither, noise shaping and modulator algorithms.
All modern DACs employ oversampling and delta-sigma modulation, however the hardware implementations are more or less resource constrained. Higher quality oversampling and delta-sigma modulation can be done by utilizing vast mount of processing power available in modern PCs. Many AVRs also resample internally to 48, 96 or 192 kHz, with the HQPlayer, these can be fed at the native rate.
Want to buy 192/24 or DXD files for future but currently own only 96/24 capable hardware? Or want to buy DSD128 or DSD256 files but currently own only DSD64 or 192/24 PCM capable hardware? Resampling and dither/noise shaper can be used to playback high resolution files on a lower resolution hardware, allowing future-proof investment on high resolution files.

MEGAsync is a simple and easy to use application that enables you to create a path between a local source folder and a cloud drive, in order to perform file synchronization. The program requires that you create a MEGA account and set up your cloud drive, then select a local source folder for synchronization. Once you sign up, the rest of the process is simple. All you have to do is copy or update the files you wish to synchronize in the local dedicated folder. The transfer is done instantly.

Does the world really need yet another cloud backup storage solution? The answer is yes when you look more closely at what MEGA, the brainchild of Kim Dotcom, has to offer. First, there's the offer of 50GB free storage space (capped to 10GB bandwidth a month), with paid-for plans offering 500GB/1TB monthly bandwidth from $11 a month or $120 a year.
Second, MEGA promises really tight security: 2048-bit RSA encryption no less. Your password acts as the master encryption key, so if it's strong enough it should be impervious even to brute-force attacks. Be wary, however: there are no password-reset options, so if you forget it, any data not shared with others will be lost.
Having 50GB to hand is very useful, but to make the most of it you'll want a client that can make uploading and syncing data between your machines effortless. This is that client.
Once installed, you're able to either sync the entire contents of your MEGA drive or just specific folders within it to your computer. These are housed inside a MEGA folder that's created inside your personal Documents folder - if this doesn't suit, take a trip to the Sync tab of the program's settings to delete the default choice and add your choice of location instead. A bit fiddly, but at least it can be done.
Any data already in your cloud account will then download to your PC, while any files or folders copied or updated into this folder will upload in turn back to your MEGA account online. Open the folder in Windows Explorer and you'll see tiny progress icons - red cross, blue sync and green tick - indicating if the files are in sync with your online storage or not.
Click the program's system tray icon for a more comprehensive view of what's going on behind the scenes: what's being synced, recently synced items and access to the all-important settings. From here you can perform a number of tweaks, and even optimise the client's bandwidth so that uploading doesn't cripple your internet connection (in most cases, the automatic setting should be fine).

With unique centre channel management, including switchable dialog extraction, Halo Upmix is perfect for all types of production from archive restoration and TV through to the full 7.1 feature film experience.
An optional 3D extension adds Dolby Atmos bed track (7.1.2) and Auro 3D (7.1.4) compatibility, and Ambisonic outputs.
The Halo Upmix algorithms produce a natural, coherent spatial upmix, preserving the character of the original audio without adding any artificial reverb, chorus or delays.
With the 'Exact' control engaged, Halo Upmix can be used with confidence that the original source integrity is precisely preserved in the downmix.
Powerful real-time analysis of the original stereo material identifies and extracts locational cues to naturally extend the panorama, leaving the inherent character of the original source intact.
Halo also includes a powerful spatial analysis view, intuitively showing the energy distribution of the upmixed panorama. Colour can additionally be used to indicate the speaker source for audio in any position, clearly indicating cases including phantom vs hard centre predominance.
Because Halo Upmix generates a coherent spatial sound, you can be assured of a high-quality downmix. The 'exact' mode function ensures ultimate downmix performance in situations where maintaining the relationship between the original, upmixed and downmixed versions is imperative, for example in TV repurposing.
The optional 3D Immersive Extension introduces additional vertical controls via an expanded user interface including control over Ltm and Rtm placement for Dolby Atmos compatibility. An additional real-time analysis view is also included for the vertical dimension, showing energy distribution of the output audio. The enhanced upmix algorithm allows for simultaneous use of all the original features including dialog isolation and individual channel output control.

OneLaunch is an application dedicated to creating a single hub for accessing your applications, folders, settings, and other features on your machine. It doesn't necessarily bring a new concept to the table. In all its simplicity, this app is synonymous with a dock launcher. Still, it includes a couple of extra features that will come in handy to certain users.

Pretty yet crowded
During the whole test procedure, we couldn't help but notice how many features this app includes. On one hand, it makes it feel inclusive, filled with all sorts of goodies, on the other it seems exaggerated, crowded, and at times in the way. There was no need for a games section, for example. These are created for leisure activities, ergo you'll probably not feel the need to access these instantly, afraid of losing the perfect moment for doing that.
Work documents, folders, screenshots, and all similar elements, on the other hand, can be accessed without any hassle, and it's indeed helpful. You want to be more productive when you work because faster means more time for you to relax. The included search engine and browser again feel like extras you wouldn't really need, especially for Windows users who already have those included in the basic package.
Lots of apps included
Other notable mentions in terms of added functionality are a news and weather widget, a calculator, a dictionary and PDF reader, and even a recipe app. This further demonstrates the idea of a crowded app with functions from all imaginable areas of human existence. For some, this will be a blessing, for others an instant turn-off. The app can be customized, and it also includes an internet speed test program.
The bottom line with OneLaunch is the fact that it is an app dock and an app hub at the same time. It makes more sense to use if you've got an older OS with little to no features, but for individuals running the latest systems, this will feel like an unwelcomed addition.
