Description

Last year, in 2019, I got a request from a student in to create a course on how to deal with emergencies. This is an important part of long term planning, and I put it on my to do list of courses to create sometime in the future.

Then, in January 2020, I learned about the Coronavisus (now COVID-19) and decided that I should make this course my top priority.

But this course isn't like my normal courses, where it's the result of years of accumulated effort.

This course is a rushed-course designed to give you the information I found to be most useful over the last month (2020.02) when I researched the field of Emergency Management and it's related fields on Crises, Disasters, etc.

I've collected the mental models, processes and ideas that I think are most valuable and put them into one place. I've also collected my favorite website, books, PDFs and other resources into one place so that you can check these out and do more learning for yourself, and keep up to date as things change.

The focus of this course is primarily on how to think about handling emergencies as an individual and as a leader in a family. I have not included much on COVID-19 itself because a lot of details are still uncertain or unknown, so I think it's better that I point you to the best places for up to date information and then you can use those to learn about the disease itself.

- Windows Storage Spaces (created by Windows 8/8.1 and 10/Threshold 2/Anniversary update);

R-Studio can automatically recognize and assemble the components of these disk managers even if their databases are slightly damaged. Their components with severe corrupted databases can be added manually.
Damaged RAID recovery. If the OS cannot recognize your RAID, you can create a virtual RAID from its components. Such virtual RAID can be processed like a real one. Standard RAID levels supported: 0, 1, 4, 5, 6. Nested and non-standard RAID level supported: 10(1+0), 1E, 5E, 5EE, 6E. Support for parity delays in all applicable levels. Support for customer-specified RAID layouts.
Automatic RAID parameter recognition.R-Studio can recognize all RAID parameters for RAID 5 and 6. This feature helps the user to solve one of the most difficult problems in RAID recovery.
Creates IMAGE FILES for an entire Hard Disk, Partition or its part. Such image files can be compressed and split into several files to put it on CD/DVD/flash or FAT16/FAT32/exFAT. Then the image files can be processed like regular disks.
Data recovery on damaged or deleted partitions, encrypted files (NTFS 5), alternative data streams (NTFS, NTFS 5), from NTFS with data deduplication.
Recovering data if:
FDISK or other disk utilities have been run;
VIRUS has invaded; FAT is damaged; MBR is destroyed.
Recognizes localized names.
Recovered files can be saved on any (including network) disks accessible by the host operating system. Recovered files may be saved on a disk on a connected remote computer rather than be transferred over network to the local one.
File preview to estimate recovery chances. Most of the file types can be previewed even when their applications are not installed.
File or disk content can be viewed and edited with the advanced hexadecimal editor. The editor supports NTFS file attribute editing.
S.M.A.R.T. attribute monitoring. R-Studio can display S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology) attributes for hard drives to show their hardware health and predict their possible failures. Any unnecessary work with such hard drives should be avoided if S.M.A.R.T. warnings appear.
Integration with DeepSpar Disk Imager, a professional HDD imaging device specifically built for data recovery from hard drives with hardware issues. Such integration provides R-Studio with a low-level fine-tuned access to drives with a certain level of hardware malfunction. Moreover, it allows disk imaging and analyzing be performed simultaneously. That is, any sector R-Studio accesses on the source disk will be immediately cloned to a clone disk and any other data recovery operation will be made from that clone disk avoiding further deterioration of the source disk and great reduction in processing time.

Microsoft has releasing Windows 10 Insider Preview version 2004 Build 19587 to Windows Insiders in the Fast ring which is a next Windows 10 version is the Windows 10 20H1 update aka Windows 10 Version 2004 and it will be released sometime in April 2020 to public. The version 2004 update is a major feature update and brings many new features, changes and improvements.

What's new in Build 19587:

General changes & improvements
- Based on feedback, when you have muted your volume, the volume will now not unmute when using the hardware keyboard volume keys until you raise the volume (or manually unmute).
- We made a couple of improvements to Narrator and how it works with some of the controls in Windows:
. Narrator now uses a more friendly string to describe the audio output in the Select playback device dropdown menu in the volume flyout.
. Narrator now announces more information in the Add Bluetooth or other devices dialog in the Settings application when first opened.
Fixes
- We fixed an issue where the new icon next to Scan with Microsoft Defender in File Explorer's context menu didn't have a transparent background.
- We fixed an issue that could result in Default Apps page in Settings crashing when you tried to change defaults.
- We fixed an issue that could result in the search box being missing from certain apps.
- We fixed an issue where some files couldn't be opened in win32 apps from File Explorer when the path length to the file was very long and parts of the path included East Asian characters.
- We fixed an issue where thumbnails weren't being generated for pictures inside a Work Folder.
- We fixed an issue where adding the Session column to the Users tab in Task Manager would result in not being able to expand the details for a particular user.

In this course, I will teach you fundamental coding skills using the Python programming language.

I believe that anyone should learn how to code.

Why?

Coding / Computation is all around us and you will understand more of the world around you if you know how to code. It is not my intention to make everyone a software developer, but coding is a skill like reading and writing. And it can be a lot of fun as well.

Who?

This course is for you if:

you are not a software developer (yet), but you feel like you want to know more about how computer programs work.

you work with programmers and want to understand better what it is they do.

you want to get into programming yourself, then this is your first step.

Prerequisites

You do not need any coding skills to be able to follow this course. However, you do need to be computer literate, meaning, you know how to get around the file system and know how to install software. We will be using Python 3.x, which is free to download and install on Windows, Mac, and Linux.

In order to keep things as simple as possible, I will be using the standard python editor, Idle, which is included when you install Python.

Of course, you are free to use any other code editor you are familiar with.

So enroll know and I will see you on the inside.
