TENS has been physically modeled after the range of high end studio spring reverberation units introduced by a famous Austrian company from the early 1970s to early 1980s. As opposed to classic spring reverbs found in guitar amps, these units were based on the company's own patented proprietary design principle, which allowed various connected spring elements of different lengths and wire diameter to vibrate inside a small isolated space.

The spring elements were manipulated in various ways, e.g. by etching the wire surface and deforming individual turns of the coil wire resulting in a highly diffused, and very dense reverb, that didn't expose the boing/chirping artifacts associated with spring reverbs and brought it much closer to the sound of plate reverbs. This range of reverbs is praised for its incredibly deep, organic, complex, rich, smooth and floating character. In terms of sound (but of course not technically) it can been seen as the missing link between classic spring and plate reverbs. A very unique beast indeed!
To extend the sonic possibilities of the originals, TENS offers
a wide range of decay times (from 0.2 seconds up to 40 seconds)
as opposed to the original each tank of TENS' models outputs a stereo signal instead of mono

The vintage, tube, analog monster sound - resampled. This plugin suite is a novelty for Acustica, as it's completely different than any other Acqua suite. Luca Martegani, also known as Xelius, is the manufacturer of an incredible suite of hand-built audio hardware characterized by immaculate sound, quality, and value. The equalizer and compressor are the elements of this suite that impressed us most - so much so that we decided to base our new product on them. We call it Cobalt.

LM 9804 Compressor
This project started as an exercise in reproducing a classic Altec Lansing-style feedback compressor. The whole circuit was re-designed for experimental purposes: first around a 12AT7 tube as a gain control element, then around a 12AU7, and finally, around the classic 6BZ7. The output stage was designed around a parallel push-pull of two 6SN7 GTs driving a custom-built output transformer.
We ended up with a powerful plugin that can be elegant or brutal, depending on how you use it. (That part is up to you!)

This compressor shines in tracking sessions, especially on sustained sounds such as vocals, guitars, bass, pads, and strings. And on drums and fast electronic loops, it exhibits an audible compression ranging from pumping to extreme squashing, which can be incredibly useful on certain styles of music.
LM 9736 Equalizer
The idea was to develop an old-school passive EQ around a resistive divider, using resistors, inductors, and capacitors.
The main scope of this project was to build an EQ capable of processing sound in a transparent way, preserving fast transients and without introducing too much

"coloration." The original hardware was completely innovative, and was never mass-produced.
But this EQ is much more than simply a sampled emulation of a unique machine. Cobalt is a fully parametric, dual-channel, 5-band tube equalizer, where tubes are used all the way from the input stage to the output. It was conceived as an evolution of the classic Pultec-style design, and is the result of many years of study and research.
The LM 9736 is built around pure vacuum tube topology, including the high voltage power supply. All the components were carefully selected to optimize performance: MKP capacitors and carbon resistors are liberally employed throughout the circuitry.
Cobalt LXM96 Preamp
The preamp section of Cobalt emulates 5 classic vacuum tube preamps. The phase and frequency response and the harmonic distortion of the original hardware are pristinely reproduced. This careful selection of preamps provides you with an array of flexible options to build your virtual console emulation.
The best use of these sound-coloring processors can only be determined by the individual user on a case-by-case basis, and on the engineer's own ears and imagination.

Jade 2 is composed of 6 different hardware units merged into 3 EQ emulations, 2 dynamics processors, and a completely new preamplifier section.

Magic In the "Air"
Jade 2 could easily be considered one of the most versatile plugin suites we've ever created. Not only does it deliver a deep, warm, sophisticated sound, it's also the ultimate choice for adding a touch of top-end sheen to your tracks. Jade adds light and "air" and to any source (even reverbs!), during both mixing and mastering.

Model A is derived from an American hardware unit famous for its ultrahigh-frequency band. The original unit is characterized by a maximum positive gain excursion of +10dB for each frequency. Our emulation includes the corresponding
-10dB negative range for each frequency, in order to offer extended versatility.

Model B is based on a powerful unit introduced on the market in 1994 and built in the UK.

Model C is a hybrid equalizer, merging 2 different equalizers (C1 and C2) into a single processor.

Comp/Limiter
Jade 2 is equipped with two dynamics processors: a discrete Class-A compressor (D) and a peak limiter (E). The main idea behind the original unit is to provide a transparent, musical control of dynamics.

These emulations can be activated and used individually (C/D) or simultaneously (C + D). If both emulations are used at the same time, their behavior is in series, so the limiter module will follow that of the compressor. The behavior and the sound of these dynamic processors may vary based on Jade's dynamic routing control in the channel strip version.

Note: Jade 2's compressor follows the improvements that have been made on all of Acustica's latest compressors. The overflow problem that could occur when input signal levels were too high has been resolved, and it is now possible to act on the input trim even with signals close to 0dB. The compression curve has also been extended to allow compression of very low signals.

Jade 2 Preamp
Jade 2's standalone preamp section includes a faithful emulation of a unique, Class-A mic preamplifier/mixer for recording engineers who want a highly flexible audio path without compromising on the sound quality sound.

5 preamp models (A, B, C1, C2, D) are included in the Jade channel-strip, as well as in the Jade 2 preamp (under the "custom" bank/category). They are based on a collection of var*ious top-quality hardware units, whose harmonic content and frequency response are readily available for use on your tracks.

The preamp section also includes several preamp emulations divided into six banks (Line, Mic, Fat, Tape, Bus, Cust) plus unique high-pass and low-pass filters. You'll be amazed at the endless variety of distinct palette of tones Jade has to offer for your mix.
